Who was behind the assassination attempt on Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr?

who is behind

Some credible rumors are circulating in Iraqi circles, relayed to IUVM by well-informed sources, that Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr’s assassination attempt, which he spoke of in his speech a few days ago, whose plans were laid out in the USA, was in favor of Saudi-Qatari-Baathist-American agendas, and whose ground work was accomplished by spies within the Sadri movement.

The following is what the source relayed:

“The assassination was planned to take place in past demonstrations, namely after the green zone was broken into by protestors. Wahhabi-Baathist media had begun to portray the assassination as being done by the Al-Nujaba’ resistance movement to cause sedition among Shias.

The assassination’s goals were many:

1- Cause sedition among Shias, making use of existing tensions between the Sadri movement and its political opponents.

2- Eliminate Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr, seeing as he stands against their interests, and blame Shias in Iraq and Iran for the assassination.

3- Allow their agents to arrive to power in Baghdad after a great deal of commotion, and after creating large chaos that would justify military involvement, and a coup d’état that they had prepared for at the time.

The plans were laid out days prior to the assassination so as to give the impression that the other Shia parties did it. Agents funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar (Baathists and Sarkhis) were to take part in the protests, just like in the chaos of the “Ziyara al-Shaabaniah”: it was the doing of those same hands, not of the movement; it was perpetrated by conspirators,  a matter the Sadri movement’s leaders were wise to, and acted against it, purifying the movement from such undesirable elements making use of the movement’s great popularity.

When Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr learned of the conspiracy, heeding the advice of some wise men, he ordered the retreat from the green zone, which placed the conspirators in a tough situation. It was a wise decision; he also calmed things down by traveling to Iran for two months, and put an end to these plans at the proper time. The objective behind these plans wasn’t Sayyed Muqtada al-Sadr himself, but rather the objective was to ignite a civil war among Shias.
