Iran President: Muslim nations responsible to take humanitarian measures to help Yemenis

db118824c6b01031b2924402c7ef9e13SHAFAQNA – President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultan of Oman discussed ways of developing Tehran-Muscat ties in their bilateral meeting and the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Oman.

“Tehran-Muscat ties has always been amicable and close and in this path, wise approach, coupled with the Sultan of Oman’s brotherly attempts and good will have been very effective,” said President Rouhani on Wednesday at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Oman held in Muscat.

Describing the nuclear agreement as beneficial to relations of the two countries, countries of the region and the world, he said: “Today, there is a good opportunity for developing and deepening ties between Iran and Oman and there is readiness to activate the economic, scientific, and cultural potentials and relations between the people of the two countries”.

On potentials of deepening Tehran-Muscat relations in various fields such as energy, transportation, gas, ports, industries, trade, and technical and engineering fields, Dr Rouhani added: “Deepening banking ties can pave the way for accelerating development of economic ties between Tehran and Muscat and we hope that the banking officials of both countries deepen financial and banking cooperation”.

“The two countries are politically determined to cement amicable relations and, in doing so, the executive mechanisms should be activated,” continued the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On scientific and cultural ties between Iran and Oman, Dr Rouhani said: “In this field, Iranian knowledge-based companies have very good potentials for cooperation and exchange of experience with the Omani side that can be activated”.

“In addition, facilitating visa issuance can promote communication between the two nations, as well as private sectors’ more information about each other’s potentials for cooperation,” he continued.

Dr Rouhani also referred to Iran and Oman’s role in maintaining security in the region and added: “Iran and Oman have been the guardians of the Strait of Hormuz throughout the history, contributing to a secure and free path for international commerce”.

“Cooperation between the two countries in ensuring regional stability and development is very important,” the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran continued.

Tehran always welcomes deepening bilateral and regional ties with its neighbours, said Rouhani, adding: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has helped to the countries of the region whenever they faced issues such as terrorism and we will surely help any of these countries if they reach out to Tehran, especially in fighting terrorism”.

Promotion of Iranophobia is a trans-regional conspiracy by the enemies of Islam and Arab nations of the region, said Rouhani adding: “Tehran has always supported settling issues and disagreements through dialogue and Iran’s military power is merely defensive, having the role of a firm support for regional security”.

He continued saying: “To guarantee the security of the region, there is no solution better than taking responsibility by the countries across the region and intra-regional cooperation; therefore, the countries of the region should stand by each other to ensure security and sustainable stability with each other’s help”.

On the need to find a solution for Yemen and help its people, he said: “Today, the Yemeni people are experiencing a very dire situation and we all, as Muslim countries of the region, are responsible to take serious and humanitarian measures to help the people of this country”.

“Establishing a cease-fire and sending humanitarian aid, as well as political Yemeni-Yemeni negotiations for resolving the issues of the Yemeni people is essential,” he said.

At the same meeting, the Sultan of Oman expressed happiness over President Rouhani’s visit to the country and added: “Oman seeks to develop and cement cooperation and relations with Iran in all political, economic and cultural fields”.

Cementing ties between Iran and the countries of the region is beneficial to regional development, security and stability, said Sultan Qaboos, adding: “There is no doubt that maintaining security in the region is the main responsibility of the countries of the region; therefore, consultation and negotiation is very essential for settling regional issues”.
